Nilgiri
is one of the tallest, lucrative and beautiful tourist spot in
Bangladesh which is covered with the blanket of clouds in rainy season.
It is more than 3000m from sea level and located at Thanci Thana under
the district of Bandarban. It is situated about 46km south of Bandarban on the Bandarban-Chimbuk-Thanchi road. Here you can observe the entire bandanban
at a glance.
In rainy season clouds are touching position from you and
winter is waiting for you with its foggy gesture on the height. It is an
perfect place for snapping the natural beauty. This is the most amazing
tourist spot in Bandarban which is managed by Army brigade of
Bandarban. It is really a tremendous experience for the visitors.
Visitor
can hire a private car from Bandarban town or can go there by Thanci
bound jeep(chander gari) or bus. There is also a helipad. On the way to
Nilgiri Bangladeshi visitor have to register his name and address to the
military check point, but the foreigners are required to achieve
permission from DC Bandarban.
There
are three well furnished cottages ranging from Tk.4000-7000. There are
also three tents having 4 beds. Rent of each tent is tk.2000. Foreign
tourist will be restricted there. Army man can get special precedence
for the lodge and cottages. But if it is not reserved by any army and
the lodge may vacant any day, you can reserve it. Most of the time
Nilgiri remains reserved. So try to contact the authority before 1-3
month to stay there. The tent is ready for you for short notice. Reserve
this before you get there because it is a busy tourist spot.
Basically
Nilgiri is a rest house. There is a healthy and clean restaurant. It
provides various type of taste food within 200-500 TK.
