Madhabkunda waterfall is located in Barlekha thana of moulvibazar district. This is the biggest waterfall of Bangladesh. Water is flowing continuously here especially in the rainy season the flow of this fall becomes strong.
The height of the waterfall in Madhabkunda is 61m or 200ft. It is about five km away from Dakshinbagh railway station on the Kulaura-Shabajpur track and 350 km from Dhaka.
The waterfall is one of the most attractive tourist spot in Bangladesh. Lots of tourists and picnic parties come to Madhabkunda every day for their enjoyment.
You can visit Madhabkunda by road or train from Dhaka and Chittagong. You should travel by road if you want to enjoy the natural beauty of Sylhet. On the way you can see the greenish beauty of the world’s biggest tea garden, the picturesque hills and the zigzag road through the hills will increase the pleasure of your trip. The voyage to the Madhabkunda is an enthralling experience and it’s so exotic that one may go to Madhabkunda only for the journey.
There are both AC and Non-AC buses available for Sylhet or Moulvibazar from Dhaka and Chittagong. From Sylhet and Moulvibazar public buses are available to go to Madhabkunda.
If you travel by train it will take 1-2 hours less to reach destination but will miss the exciting experience of the natural scenic beauty of environment beside the road. Train will get you as far as Kulaura and than you will have to take public bus for visiting the waterfall. it’s about one hour journey from Kulaura train station.
You can stay night at Madhabkunda. There is a motel of Bangladesh Porjoton Corporation and also a Bunglow of district council. To stay at the Bunglow you need to contact with Mulavibazar zilla parishad office before you go to Madhabkunda.
For accommodation, some hotels are available at Moulvibazar. Hotel Sonargoan at Srimongol road, Hotel Sheraton Plaza at kushumbag and Hotel Helal at Saifur Rahman Road.
